Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, visited St Gervais on 13 February 2020.
Among the topics discussed during his visit were biodiversity, global warming and overcrowding in the Mont-Blanc massif.

​The Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Valley hosted the weekend of February 8 & 9, 2020 two Men's Alpine Ski World Cup events: a Slalom and a Parallel Giant. The best skiers in the world had gathered for this legendary race, which has become the major event in the Chamonix valley. The public responded and set an atmosphere of madness for this great ski festival.

The Megève piste is hosting the seventh stage of the World Cup of Ski Cross this weekend.

​The only French victory this season in the World Cup goes not to the 2014 Olympic champion Jean-Frédéric Chapuis, the reigning world champion François Place or the last World Cup winner Bastien Midol, but to Marielle Berger-Sabbatel. Under Italian snow, in Innichen, at the end of December, the 30-year-old skier won her first success in eight years on the circuit . The men remain in search of a first victory.
